Confidentiality
What you share in therapy is kept confidential. This means that, in most cases, nothing you say will be shared without your consent.

However, there are some important exceptions:
-
If I believe there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else
-
If I am required by law to disclose information (e.g. terrorism, serious crime, or safeguarding concerns)

Wherever possible, I will always aim to speak with you before taking any action.

I also discuss aspects of my work in clinical supervision, which is a professional requirement for all BACP-registered therapists. This helps me reflect on my work and offer you the best support possible.
Record Keeping & Data Protection
I use WriteUpp, a secure, GDPR-compliant platform designed specifically for healthcare professionals, to manage records and appointments.

I keep brief, factual notes after each session. These may include background details and key themes from our work together.

Your information is:
-
Anonymised where appropriate
-
Stored securely within WriteUpp’s encrypted system
-
Never shared with third parties

In line with data protection laws, I retain client records for one year after the end of therapy, after which they are securely deleted.

I comply fully with:
-
The UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR)
-
The Data Protection Act 2018
-
The BACP Ethical Framework
