Book Your Initial Assessment
If you’re thinking about starting therapy, the first step is to book an initial assessment — a 50-minute session where we can explore what’s bringing you here, what you’re hoping for, and whether working together feels like the right fit.
There’s no pressure to commit. This is simply a chance to talk things through, ask any questions you might have, and get a feel for how therapy could support you.
You can book your initial session online/telephone session using the link below.
If you’re unsure or want to ask anything before booking, you’re always welcome to get in touch.
What You Can Expect
In this 50-minute assessment, you will have the opportunity to:
-
Talk about what's brought you to counselling
-
Share anything important about your background, current challenges, or goals
-
Ask questions about how therapy works
-
Decide whether working together feels like a good fit

You're welcome to share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with.

We might explore:
-
Your reasons for seeking supporting now
-
Life experiences, relationships, or patterns that are affecting you
-
How you've been feeling emotionally and mentally
-
What you hope to gain from therapy

You don't need to have it all figured out — your initial assessment is simply a starting point.
Is It Confidential?
Yes. Everything you share is kept confidential, and I'll explain the limits of confidentially clearly in the session — including rare exceptions such as concerns around serious harm or legal obligations.
What I'll Be Doing As Your Therapist
During the assessment, I'll be listening closely to understand what you're going through and how it's affecting you. I'll also being to think with you about what kind of support might be most helpful — whether that's regular counselling with me, a different approach, or another service that may be better suited to your needs.
Is the Assessment a One-Off?
It can be. After the initial assessment, you're welcome to take time to reflect and decide whether you'd like to continue with regular therapy. If we both agree to move forward, we'll find a regular time that works for you.
