Grief & Bereavement
Counselling

Grief can affect every part of life, bringing sadness, numbness, anxiety, exhaustion, loneliness, or a sense that the world no longer feels the same. Everyone grieves differently, and there is no right or wrong way to experience loss.

I offer confidential grief and bereavement counselling online, by telephone and in person, providing a safe, compassionate space where you can explore your thoughts and feelings at a pace that feels right for you.

Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, living with anticipatory grief, coping with the loss of a relationship or a beloved pet, or adjusting to the changes that can come with illness or caring for someone at the end of life, counselling can help you make sense of your experience and feel less alone as you navigate life after loss.

Compassionate Support Through Loss, Bereavement & Emotional Pain

Grief can affect every part of life. Whether your loss is recent or happened many years ago, bereavement can bring overwhelming emotions, confusion, numbness, anxiety, sadness, anger, or a profound sense that life has changed forever.

There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Everyone's experience is unique, and there is no timetable for how long grief should last. Sometimes the emotional impact of loss can feel too difficult to carry alone.

I offer confidential grief and bereavement counselling for adults who are navigating the death of a loved one, anticipatory grief, emotional loss, and the challenges of adapting to life after significant change. Sessions are available online, by telephone or in person, allowing you to choose the approach that feels most comfortable for you.

Counselling provides a safe, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can talk openly about your experiences, process difficult emotions, and make sense of life after loss at a pace that feels right for you. Whatever your story, you don't have to face it alone.

Understanding Grief

Grief is a natural human response to loss, but that does not make it easy.

The emotional impact of bereavement can affect mental wellbeing,

relationships, physical health, work, and day-to-day functioning.

You may experience:

  • Deep sadness or emotional numbness

  • Anxiety or panic after a loss

  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating

  • Feelings of guilt, anger, or regret

  • Loneliness or isolation

  • A sense of emptiness or loss of identity

  • Difficulty adjusting to life changes

  • Emotional overwhelm around anniversaries or reminders

  • Anticipatory grief when supporting someone who is seriously ill

Sometimes people feel pressure to “move on” before they are emotionally ready. Counselling offers a space where grief does not need to be rushed or minimised.

The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) recognises that talking therapy can help people process bereavement, understand emotional responses to loss, and find ways to cope with grief in a healthy and supportive environment.

My Experience Supporting Grief & Bereavement

Alongside my private practice, I have experience working within hospice settings supporting individuals and families affected by terminal illness, end-of-life care, and bereavement.

This work has given me a deep understanding of the emotional complexity that often surrounds grief — including anticipatory loss, unresolved emotions, family dynamics, fear, helplessness, and the profound adjustments that can follow bereavement.

I understand that grief is not something to “fix.” Often, what people need most is a compassionate space where they feel heard, supported, and able to speak openly without judgement.

How Grief Counselling Can Help

As an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, I tailor therapy to your individual needs and experiences. Some people need space simply to talk. Others want support understanding emotions that feel difficult to process or manage.

Counselling may help you to:

  • Process painful emotions safely

  • Explore the impact of your loss

  • Cope with overwhelming thoughts or feelings

  • Understand complicated or delayed grief

  • Navigate changes in relationships and identity

  • Reduce feelings of isolation

  • Find healthier ways to cope emotionally

  • Begin adjusting to life after loss

Therapy is not about forgetting someone or “getting over” grief. It is about finding support while learning how to carry loss in a way that feels more manageable.

Choose the Way You'd Like to Access Support

Everyone experiences grief differently, which is why I offer bereavement counselling online, by telephone and in person. Together, we can choose the approach that feels most comfortable and supportive for you.

Many people appreciate the flexibility and privacy of online or telephone counselling, particularly during periods when leaving home or travelling feels difficult. Others find comfort in the dedicated space and personal connection of face-to-face sessions.

Depending on the type of counselling you choose, the benefits may include:

  • A choice of online, telephone or in-person appointments

  • Flexible sessions around work, family and other commitments

  • Access support from the comfort of home or in a calm, private therapy room

  • No travel required for online or telephone sessions

  • Confidential one-to-one support at a pace that feels right for you

Professional organisations, including the BACP, recognise online counselling as an effective and accessible way for many people to receive emotional support. Whatever format you choose, you'll receive the same compassionate, confidential and professional care.
