About Paul Madden

Hello, I'm Paul Madden, a BACP Accredited Counsellor and Psychotherapist with over 20 years' experience supporting people through some of life's most challenging moments. I offer confidential counselling in person from my private practice in Ashford, Kent, as well as online and by telephone across the UK and internationally for English-speaking clients.

My professional background includes hospice and bereavement care, NHS sexual health and HIV services, LGBT+ support, and senior leadership within health and social care. Over the years, I have helped people experiencing anxiety, grief, burnout, relationship difficulties, identity concerns, life transitions, and issues relating to HIV, herpes, and sexual health.

Many of the people I work with are coming to counselling for the first time. I understand that taking the first step can feel daunting, so I aim to provide a calm, compassionate and non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable talking openly at a pace that feels right for you.

My approach is integrative and relational, meaning therapy is tailored to you as an individual rather than following a one-size-fits-all model. Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, stuck, anxious, or simply not yourself, counselling offers a supportive space to better understand your experiences and begin moving towards positive, lasting change.

Whether we meet in person, online or by telephone, my focus is always the same: to provide a safe, confidential and supportive therapeutic relationship where you feel heard, understood and supported.
